Oct 22, 2008 — Sherman Sham, a blog created by “supporters of the Cecil County SPCA” but “not authorized or endorsed by the SPCA” attacks WBAl TV Reporter John Sherman for investigating the CCSPCA. The web site when it was discovered had content attacking the reporters credibility. But soon after practically all regional broadcast and print media started covering the story out of Baltimore and Sherman Sham was discovered its content was removed from the World Wide Web. Nonetheless, the site’s material, documenting an October attempt to investigate complaints, was archived on the Internet so portions of it are presented here to provide some idea of the material on those pages. Click here to see what is presently up on http://shermansham.wordpress.com. It is vastly different than the way it appeared on Jan. 14, 2009 as practically all media in the region covered this news story.

Hodge still doesn't get it on February 4, 2009 at 11:57 pm
Here we go again folks! Here is Hodge on Fox news in Baltimore last night saying he is not sure what will happen from here, and that there is a chance that the CCSPCA will keep the contract with different procedures, policies, and oversight. He is not getting it. It may be time to call him and REPEAT TO HIM HOW IMPORTANT IT IS THAT THE CCSPCA NOT BE GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE. THEY HAVE BEEN DOING THESE AWFUL THINGS FOR 10 YEARS! What makes him think they will start doing right with oversight?????
Hodge told them that the CCSPCA could possibly keep the animal control contract with different policies, procedures, and oversight in place. What isn’t Hodge getting? How hard is this to comprehend? The contract needs to be terminated. They have been accused of these things as far back as 10 years ago. What makes Hodge think that they will stop with oversight?
Call Comm Hodge and let him know enough is enough–no excuses–TERMINATE THE CONTRACT, or we will terminate his job as Commissioner next time he is up for election.

NICE! This was obviously decided early on and he called the Whig and Fox News to make sure it got in today’s edition. What a poser! No wonder he was so red-faced up there in the Rogue’s Gallery last night! ( I could tell when they were ignoring the speakers and passing notes back and forth)
Make no mistake. Hodge “gets it”. He is telling all of you folks “f” you…just like the nice gals over at the Society for the Perpetration of Cruel Acts.

Didn’t Charles Lindbergh, an American hero, warn us not to go to war with Germany after he took a tour orchestrated by the Third Reich?
Isn’t this just another feeble attempt at propaganda? Nancy, it’s nice that your contacts in the media interview ONLY your good friend, Bob Hodge, just like the Whig praised ONLY his leadership in forming the task force – only the task force wasn’t formed. Is this akin to the Alaskan bridge to nowhere?
I find it hard to believe that the other commissioners didn’t have any comments worth covering. Well, I can believe that SOME of the other commissioners don’t have anything to say – hiding their true colors from public scrutiny. They line their pockets, and those of their campaign contributors, not caring what happens to the community, because they and their families don’t live amongst the average citizens. Just follow the money, and your elected officials’ motives will be revealed.

I’m going to repeat myself, here. Unless Cecil County keeps the contract, Cecil County loses the facility. It’s that simple. The Cecil County SPCA, Inc. owns the land and facility.
In order to prevent the County’s loss of use of the facility, the corporation must remain intact as a viable entity and the contract must continue.
The best case scenario is for the board members to fire the employees and then resign.
There is no other “easy” way out. Commissioner Hodge does, indeed, understand, the myriad complications of this ineffective agreement. By virtue of his Ex Officio board membership, he is caught between a rock and a hard place. Put the blame for this continuing travesty where it belongs: On Ms. Schwerzler. She can pursuade the board of directors to fire the employees; she can resign.
What is her motivation for not doing what is best for Cecil County?
I can only hope that she realizes that if she were to remove herself from this quaqmire her notoriety would fade before long.

The things we should be asking for are
1. We must have a new SPCA board president and all NEW board members.
2. We must have a new director for the SPCA and a overhaul of employees.
3. Jeanne Deeming and Jerry Hawkins must be fired.
4. There must be County Commissioner’s oversight and public imput in the new contract.
Remember even if the Commissioners do not renew the contract of animal control with the SPCA, it can still run as a animal shelter. The contract states any animals at the SPCA, belong to the SPCA. We can not forget about these animals.

If I was Hodge or any other member of that board, I would tell those two women that run the place to step down while that state trooper investigates the charges. These charges are as serious as you get and it is the board that runs the place not those two women. Then fine if they haven’t done anytning wrong, they can reinstate them after the investigation. he board is required to speak up because they run it, not anyone else. Actually I wonder if there is a board down there since all you ever hear about is the president and Hodge.
Board members run this place the right way. This is too serious for you to not step up to your obligations just like any other place would. Is there a board or is it just Hodge, Schwerzer and Deeming.
