 Dear Student:

Thank you for your interest in the 2010/2011 Maryland House of Delegates Scholarship.  Please note that the eligibility requirements include attending a Maryland college, university, or private career school. If you are applying to an out-of-state school, you must have written permission from the Maryland Higher Education Commission that you have a “unique major” not offered in Maryland.

A Scholarship Committee will be reviewing the applications to select recipients.  They will make their selections using the following criteria:

The grade point average of the applicant (minimum 3.0 GPA required)

  • Extra-curricular activities of the applicant (includes school and community involvement as well as employment)
  • Economic Need

Please complete the application form and return with a copy of your most recent academic transcript to our office at 323 Lowe House Office Bldg, Annapolis, MD  21401.   The deadline for submitting your application and transcript is Monday, April 12, 2010.

Once again, thank you for your interest in the House of Delegates Scholarship Program.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.  I wish you the best of luck in your academic endeavors.

Yours in Public Service,

Michael D. Smigiel, Sr.

Delegate, 36th District

My two daughters, Sarah and Mary, applied for scholarships this year and did not receive them as of this date. They both received scholarships last year. We would like to know why they were declined.
    Thank you.

I don’t believe they were declined and they should have received notice from the State. If you will call the office on thursday and ask to speak with Michael Dunn we will be able to get an answer for you as to where they are in the process. Sorry about the confusion. 410-392-5815
